Validation programme for professional qualification as a scaffolding helper

What the profession involves

The scaffolding helper helps to safely assemble, disassemble and convert scaffolding, stairs, platforms and supports. He:

  • visually assesses the scaffolding material;
  • indicates the correct assembly and disassembly sequence of the material of a standard configuration;
  • ensures that the scaffolder and scaffolder supervisor have the right material at the right time on site;
  • checks the equipment that leaves the ground for temporary scaffolding structures.

He adheres to the usual safety rules.

If you want to demonstrate your experience as a scaffolding helper to a validation body, you will be required to take a practical test.

The language of instruction for the tests is Dutch. You will need at least a basic knowledge of Dutch to take the tests.

You will be tested on whether you can:

  • carry out logistical operations when assembling and disassembling scaffolding,
  • assist, under the supervision of a scaffolder of scaffolder supervisor, in the safe assembly of a simple scaffold that meets the following criteria:
    • at least 2.5m x 2m x 4m (l x w x h),
    • with a working floor at 2 metres and,
    • which must be made accessible by an access ladder,
  • under the supervision of a scaffolder or scaffolder supervisor, help dismantle this scaffolding safely.
